Most years the Ramona Country Fair’s Home Sweet Home contest introduces a new category. This year it’s tamales.
So on Saturday, homemade tamales will be laid out on the tables along with the usual salsas, bread and muffins, jams and jellies, pickles and relish, and desserts vying for first-, second- and third-place honors.
Traditionally, salsas have been the most popular category, said Patty Thompson, coordinator of the Home Sweet Home event, which is set for 8-10 a.m. at the fairgrounds under the pavilion.
