The Food Safety Inspection Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced yesterday that Tyson Foods Inc. has added almost 500,000 pounds of frozen chicken to its existing recall. On July 3, the USDA said Tyson Foods was recalling approximately 8,492,832 pounds of its ready-to-eat chicken products due to a possible listeria contamination. That number has now grown to 8,955,296 pounds.

Tyson Foods is recalling approximately 8.5 million pounds of frozen, cooked chicken products for possible listeria contamination.

The company and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall Saturday night.

The recall includes Tyson branded products sold at stores nationwide and private label products for restaurants, which include Jet’s Pizza, Casey’s General Store, Marco’s Pizza and Little Caesars. Walmart, Publix and Wegmans are among the stores that sold the products.

Tyson Foods Recalls 8.5 Million Lbs. of Frozen and Cooked Chicken Products Due to Listeria Risk


Tyson is issuing a recall.

On Saturday, the food company announced that it is voluntarily recalling about 8.5 million pounds of frozen and cooked chicken products that may have been contaminated with listeria.

The affected products include chicken strips, chicken pizza and pulled chicken breasts that were sold under brand names including Tyson, Jet’s Pizza and Casey’s General Store, according to Tyson.

Those products were produced at a single facility in Dexter, Missouri, between Dec. 26, 2020 and April 13, 2021, and were distributed to foodservice and retail customers across the United States

Tyson Foods recalls more than 8 million pounds of chicken products

USA (WOIO) – Tyson Foods is recalling more than 8 million pounds of chicken products that may be contaminated with Listeria, a bacteria that can be especially dangerous for pregnant women.

The recall includes frozen, fully cooked chicken products made between December 26, 2020 and April 13, 2021, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Three people have become ill and one has died of infections tied to pre-cooked chicken produced at Tyson Foods, the USDA said. Investigators are looking for others who may have gotten sick after eating the chicken.
